AI is driving a boom in datacentres, with capacity projected to triple between 2025 and 2030. A shortage of skilled construction workers and energy supply are major constraints. To accelerate construction, engineers and designers are turning to AI and autonomous systems to accelerate building and inspection processes. To create more available energy innovation in small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), and geothermal energy is growing. By 2030, datacentres are expected to use as much energy as Japan.
